About Me

"On this one will I look, on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word."  (Isaiah 66:2)  Obviously I like this verse as its the theme of the blog.  The words "I" and "will" and "look" being in the title hopefully wasn't too obvious of a suggestion that I want people to stop and read the blog.  But more importantly, I want God to look on me with approval.  In the context of Isaiah 66:2, God has just explained that heaven is His throne.  No man made temple or accomplishments is really impressive to God.  He looks for someone who will humbly and reverently pay attention to His word.  That's my goal.  Hopefully you will pick that up as you read.

God has incredibly blessed me.  Let me count a few of these blessings.

Blessing #1 MY SAVIOR

Like everyone else on this planet, I need a savior.  Time and time again I have failed in the battle against sin.  More disheartening than that are the times that I have wanted to loose!  My personal experience, in the words of Paul, is that "I know that in me, that is in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing" (Rom. 7:18).  And yet I am absolutely confident that my name is in the book of life and that I have been taken out from those who will experience the judgment of Hell.  My confidence is not in any of my good character qualities (my sincerity, my good heartedness, my love for God, etc.).  Instead, it is in promise of the Lord Jesus Christ - "He who believes in Me has everlasting life" (John 6:47).  He came to into the world to save sinners (1 Tim. 1:15) and I'm so glad that I have His work applied to Me.  There is no greater person in my life than Him.  There is no better blessing than salvation.

Blessing #2 MY FAMILY

I come from a very godly family with two loving parents, a brother, and a sister.  My wife is passionate, sensitive, supporting, gorgeous, and the list goes on.  You know, the ideal woman people refer to.  I have her.  Its great.  We have been married since August of 2004.  We have one one and a half year old boy named Griffith (bonus points if you know the historical referent without googling it!) and a girl on the way, whom we plan to name Bonnie.  We happily live in northwest Detroit.

Blessing #3 MY CHURCH

I have benefited from so many different brothers and sisters in Christ and I regularly thank God for the great gift of being in His family.  I am commended to full time Christian ministry, specifically evangelism and discipleship, by my lovely church family at Carriage Hill Bible Chapel. I am in fellowship at Curtis Gospel Chapel, which is in our neighborhood.  Three outstanding things about this assembly - 1) it has a passion for the free grace gospel, 2) it seeks to meet according to the church principles found in the New Testament 3) it is in the city and desire to "remember the poor, the same which I also was forward to do" (Gal. 2:10).  I also am involved with Middle Eastern Bible Fellowship and am excited about what the Lord is doing there.
